Our cotton quilt labels include Featherweight HeatnBond on the back. The HeatnBond is designed to temporarily hold the label in place while you sew it onto your quilt, making placement and stitching easier.

HeatnBond is not intended to provide a permanent hold. The label should be sewn securely to the quilt for permanent attachment.

🌿 Cotton (Sew-On) — Recommended

Classic quilting cotton look and feel. Soft, thin, and easy to sew by hand or machine. Best for heirloom, bed, or display quilts with gentle care. Cotton labels include a temporary HeatnBond backing. This helps reduce fraying when cutting and allows you to temporarily fuse the label in place while stitching, making it easier to position the label neatly before sewing it permanently onto your quilt.

✨ Polyester (Sew-On)

Not quilting cotton. Thicker, non-stretch fabric with a soft, fuzzy (suede-like) feel. Extremely durable and fade-proof. Great for baby quilts, kids’ quilts, and frequent washing. Do not choose if you want a traditional cotton look.
  • Cotton Labels: Backed with HeatnBond Featherlight. Temporarily holds label in place while sewing. To reduce fraying, fold edges under before stitching.

  • Polyester Labels: Trim and sew directly onto your quilt. Optional to fold edges under—extra fabric is included for that.
  • Cotton Labels: Wash on delicate with cold water. Hang to dry or use a low setting. Avoid high heat to preserve print. Not fully colorfast.
  • Polyester Labels: No special care needed. Machine washable, fade-proof, and long-lasting.

The number of labels included on each sheet depends on the design. The product variants will explicitly state the number of sheets and how many labels that will be.

All of our labels are different sizes depending on the design. Check the product description for specific label dimensions.

Cotton labels have a classic quilting cotton feel — soft, thin, and easy to sew by hand or machine. They come with HeatnBond Featherlight backing that temporarily holds the label in place while you stitch. Great for heirloom, bed, or display quilts.

Polyester labels are thicker with a soft, fuzzy feel (not a quilting cotton look). They're printed with permanent sublimation ink that won't fade or wash off, ever. No backing included — just trim and sew. These are built for quilts that get washed a lot, like baby or kids' quilts.

Your quilt labels will be printed on an 8.5" x 11" sheet ready for you to cut.

Both the cotton and polyester labels can be sewn directly onto your quilt, but there are a few tricks depending on your label material.
